Biography
Dr. Joel Hardin was named Director of the Division of Pediatric Cardiology in 2009. He also serves as Vice-Chairman for Administration in the Department of Pediatrics. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, American College of Cardiology, and American Heart Association. He is one of just a few metro Chicago region cardiologists who specialize in the care of adults with congenital heart disease. He lectures on this subject for professional organizations here and abroad, and was named inaugural President for the Chicago Adult Congenital Heart Disease Network. He has consistently been recognized by his peers as one of America's top pediatric cardiologists, as published annually by Castle Connolly, Ltd. Dr. Hardin completed military service in 2006 at a final rank of Commander in the US Navy Medical Corps. His prior active duty assignments included 2004 deployment to Al Anbar Province, Iraq as a Marine Corps infantry Battalion Surgeon with 3d Battalion, 24th Marines, 1st Marine Division (REIN).
