Cardiac Consultations and Second Opinion Program

Cardiac Consultations and Second Opinion Program

Collaborating with patients and referring physicians

We are honored to collaborate with the patient and the referring primary-care physician to discuss treatment options related to preventive measures, advanced lipid management and acute cardiac conditions needing attention.  In addition, our experts are able to provide assistance to patients seeking a second opinion.  Patients seeking a Loyola cardiologist will be evaluated through:

  • Thorough physical examination and review of patient's medical history to determine risk factors
  • Advanced diagnostic tools, such as MRI, CT, echocardiograms and home monitoring, to better determine the patient's condition
  • Medical management techniques and lifestyle modifications to improve quality of life
  • Preventive measures and assessments for asymptomatic patients who may be at higher risk for developing cardiac disease
  • Consultation with specialists, including interventional cardiologists, electrophysiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, peripheral vascular specialists, heart failure specialists and pediatric and adult congenital cardiologists to treat complex cardiovascular disease

At Loyola, our patients beneft from a team approach. Our cardiologists work closely with a patient’s primary-care physician and have access to expert surgeons, neurologists, endocrinologists and other specialists who are leaders in their field to help devise the best treatment plan for each patient. Our heart-care specialists are supported by a team of skilled nurses, advanced nursing practitioners, technicians, dietitians and pharmacists.
