Advanced Heart Failure Management

Advanced Heart Failure Management

Internationally recognized experts in heart failure

Heart failure is caused by inefficient pumping of blood by the heart, causing blood to back up into parts of the body. This can lead to fluid buildup in the lungs and other organs. The heart’s pumping capacity may be diminished as a result of heart attack, cardiac arrest, high blood pressure, diabetes, or other conditions.

Loyola’s multidisciplinary team of experts includes cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, advanced practice nurses, social workers, dietitians, and pharmacists.  Together, this team can help diagnose and treat advanced heart failure through:

  • Lifestyle modification
  • Medication management
  • Assessment for left ventricular assist device (LVAD) or other implantable devices
  • Assessment for heart transplant or other surgical treatments
  • Palliative therapy for end-stage heart failure management
